Membership and Stakeholder Engagement

Members who renew. Alumni who answer.

Most organizations hear from their members once a year, when the renewal notice goes out. Alumni get the magazine and the spring appeal. The people who could open doors for you in the community – the pastor, the council staffer, the parent who runs the neighborhood association – hear from you when you need something. Then renewals slip, alumni participation drifts down, and the alumni office starts to feel like it is shouting into a well.

We think engagement comes down to belonging, and belonging gets built in the months between asks. People stay close to organizations where they are known by name, where their opinion is asked for and then used, and where they can see what their membership makes possible. We help you plan that contact on purpose, for each group you serve, at a pace your staff can keep.

What We Do

Membership program review

We look at how people join, what they receive, when they renew, and where they drop off. Then we rework the levels, the first-year welcome, and the renewal sequence so the path from first ticket or first gift to steady membership is plain to see.

Alumni re-engagement plan

For schools and programs with graduates spread across decades, we group alumni by class year, interest, and past involvement, and design outreach for each group. That can mean class agents, reunion volunteers, career conversations with current students, and asks that fit where each person is.

Stakeholder map

We list the partners, neighbors, local leaders, and peer organizations who shape your work, rate how close each one is to you today, and assign every relationship an owner on your team and a next step.

Listening and reporting back

Surveys, short listening sessions, and the habit that makes them worth doing: telling people what you heard and what you changed because of it. Asking for opinions and then going silent does more harm than never asking.

Engagement calendar

A twelve-month plan showing every touch each audience will receive, asks and non-asks alike, so no one hears from you three times in one week and then nothing for a season.

What You Walk Away With

  • A revised membership structure and renewal sequence, with drafted welcome and renewal messages
  • An alumni outreach plan by segment, with clear roles for volunteers such as class agents
  • A stakeholder map with a named owner and next step for each relationship
  • A survey or listening-session toolkit and a template for reporting results back to your community
  • A twelve-month engagement calendar your staff can run

Most of all, a team in the habit of getting to know people between asks.
