Brand Messaging and Content Strategy

One story, told well, by everyone who tells it.

Ask five people at your organization what you do and you will get five good answers. The head of school talks about the learning model. The development director talks about the scholarship fund. A board member tells the story of the student who changed her mind about the place, and the website says something written three directors ago that nobody remembers approving.

None of those answers is wrong. They just don’t add up to anything a donor can repeat to a friend. Good messaging works the way a good script does: everyone knows the through-line, and each person can still say it in their own voice. We find the story underneath all five answers, then write it down plainly enough that the board chair, the newest gift officer, and the Instagram caption can all tell it.

What We Do

Listening first

We interview the people who carry your story now – leaders, staff, board members, and a few donors and families – and read everything you have already published. The words people use when they aren’t trying to sound official are usually the ones worth keeping.

Core message and voice

We draft a messaging framework: one sentence on what you do and why it matters, the proof points that back it up, and notes on voice, including which words you use and which you retire. We keep it to a few pages, so people use it.

Case for support

Every major ask leans on this document. We write it to say plainly what you will do, what it will change, and why a gift matters now, and we work through drafts with your leadership until it sounds like you at your most convincing.

Website and newsletter copy

We write or rewrite the pages and recurring pieces your supporters read most, so the story they meet online matches the one they hear in person.

Social media plan

We build a content calendar your team can keep up with, platform by platform, drawn from the stories you already have instead of the ones you wish you had time to chase.

What You Walk Away With

  • A messaging framework with your core statement, proof points, and voice notes
  • A finished case for support, ready for design and for the next donor meeting
  • New copy for your priority website pages and a working template for your newsletter
  • A social media calendar sized to the staff you have
  • A board and staff who can explain your work in a sentence or two, and who sound like the same organization when they do

Let’s talk.

A donor can only give to the organization they understand. If yours sounds different depending on who is telling it, let’s find the story underneath.
